Experience
I began tutoring friends and classmates in elementary school. I began a reading program in which 4th graders read to third graders. Later, in high school, I did Peer Tutoring which involved working with Special Needs students. And in college, I tutored history, international relations, English, and academic writing. Though I didn't tutor German language in university, still friends and classmates came to me prior to class and we'd practice our conversation skills, we'd review my notes, and we'd all do better as a result on the tests. As an adult, I taught English as a Foreign Language to business professionals, high school, and university students in Prague, Czech Republic for 4 years. I find I'm always sharing information, sometimes regardless if the person wants it or not. Because I'm always trying to learn, I want to pass along that knowledge. It's such a wonderful feeling to see the sigh of relief and understanding when a concept is fully grasped. I've lived, studied, and worked abroad since high school. In high school, I was part of a student ambassador program to Russia (formerly USSR) and spent 3 weeks traveling the Western coast of Russian just after the Berlin Wall fell. In university, I participated in Model U.N. at the U.N. in New York and the following year was accepted into the German language program at University of Salzburg, Austria. And most recently, lived and worked in Prague, Czech Republic for a few years teaching English as well as working with a nonprofit newspaper syndicate, making friends who worked at Radio Free Europe, and a brief time in a technology firm learning how to work in a multi-national corporation.
