Experience

Need assistance with writing your thesis or creating a scientific poster? Contact me now for a FREE evaluation. Your child's success is my top priority! Due to my scientific training, I am a results-oriented person. Let's talk about how I can help your child succeed academically. Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) with the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program: July 2009 - July 2010 In the JET Program I worked as an ALT in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto, Japan for the Kumamoto City Board of Education. I taught Elementary and Junior High School students at five public schools throughout the city. My responsibilities included developing lesson plans for class, creating English learning games, coaching students for English speech contests, and judging speech contests. In addition to teaching classes together with fellow teachers, I would occasionally teach classes on my own. This experience exposed me to teaching theory as well as student psychology in regards to learning. In addition to classroom work, I worked with two Japanese families with children to tutor the family in English through conversation and writing. I am available to tutor your child to perform well on their SAT, AP, and other college admissions tests. I scored a 1360 (out of 1600) on the SAT, and I received 5's in my Calculus BC and Biology AP exams and a 4 in my Environmental Science AP exam. Note: my 5 in Calculus BC AP course gave me 6 math credits at Trinity University and completed my math requirements for graduation. College Chemistry I've taken both lecture and lab courses in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and II, and Inorganic Chemistry all with grades of B or better. College Biology I've taken both lecture and lab courses in Introductory Biology I and II, Neuroscience, and Neurobiology. In addition to course-work, I was involved in scientific research from my freshman year of college. This exposed me to practical scientific thinking and scientific discipline. I want to be a tutor because I want to help your child achieve the joy of academic success that they are capable of. The self-confidence that comes with fully understanding and solving problems is invaluable. Knowledge is like a set of tools and the more tools one has available, the better they are able to deal with life situations.
