Experience
I am currently a teacher at private school that emphasizes teaching to student needs. I work with a variety of populations including children with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, processing disorders, and autism, among other learning differences. I am certified to teach 4-8 and 8-12 Reading and ELA, but I have taught students from 1st through 10th grade in a variety of subjects from reading (with phonics based programs) through high school algebra. This year I was selected as the Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the San Antonio Cavaliers. Prior to my time as a teacher, I worked as an AVID tutor, helping students with SAT/ACT prep as well as organizational and study skills. I also volunteered with SA Reads in college and also spent a semester in Rome as an intern teacher at the Istituto Superiore di Stato Niccolò Machiavelli in Rome, Italy. In addition to my teacher experience, I have also served as the student editor while in college at the school newspaper at Trinity and have worked as an editor on several small projects as well as a published Young Adult novel.

Hobbies
I love to read and learn new things about any topic. I think that to emphasize with students who struggle, it is good for me to constantly try new things and put myself in the place of the student. Although I am not particularly talented at either, I love to cook and garden. I enjoy trying new things and seeing how experimenting can lead to new and exciting culinary creations or new fruits and veggies from the garden. I also love to travel, especially to the beach areas. I was born in Corpus Christi, and I love to go back to Port A where I went when I was a kid or the nearby Rockport.
