Experience
I have taught English literature and composition courses at San Antonio College, St. Philip's College, Northeast Lakeview College, the University of Texas at San Antonio and Baylor University. I have taught regular classes, small groups, individuals, military, and early college/dual credit students. After 20 years in the classroom, I am retiring to take care of my family, but I don't want to stop teaching! English courses are hard. Writing is really hard, and reading isn't as easy as you might think. Of the hundreds of students I've taught, very few came into college well-prepared for their required English courses. If you are a motivated student 16 or older, I can help you to better understand the books, stories and poems you read and to write good essays. I am experienced in teaching composition (essay writing and literary analysis), British, American and world literature of all periods, literary criticism, and children's and young adult literature.
