Education
BS in Mathematics at California State U, Pomoma. MS in Mathematics (Biology Minor) at Texas State U. (GPA 3.78)
Experience
I worked many years for the Federal government, developing computer software and leading evaluation teams. I have taught children's Sunday school classes and given horse-back riding instruction to teenagers. I taught high-school math a half-year in Crystal City, Texas, and then taught six semesters at Texas State and UTSA -- Basic Mathematics, Algebra, and Business Mathematics. Recently, I have gained experience at a Huntington Learning Center (preparing 11th graders for the ACT and SAT Math exams) and at a Mathnasium (teaching children from 2nd through 11th grades easy ways to do math). In general, I like to teach, coach, and encourage people. I have found that in any field, knowing the particular vocabulary and terminology of the field is critical for understanding. In mathematics, often a topic becomes easy once understanding is achieved. A tutor or teacher must discover how to unlock that understanding in the student's mind.
