Currently work at one of the Alamo Colleges in Career Services/Job Placement. Worked 8 years at El Paso Community College in many positions including as tutor for high risk students. Worked all facets of student services. Operated a college campus-based dropout recovery program for 17-21 year olds. Emphasized employability skills, organizational skills and entry into college. School Liaison Officer for 3 years advocating for the highly mobile/transient military child. Worked closely with school principals, counselors, teachers and parents to improve education. Federal Recruiter/Liaison Officer at 36 colleges and universities in south Texas. I presently work closely with college-aged students in career development, resume/cover letter development and placement into internships. I have a strong passion for student achievement. I want to see high school students well prepared for college. I see the results of poor preparation every day as well as the fruits of hard work. I emphasis doing things smarter and how to develop good habits that will last well into college and a professional career.

TECHNOLOGY: I thoroughly enjoy the latest technology and know how to use a variety of software programs. I quickly can learn new applications and have the creativity and innovation to use technology wisely. EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS: I am totally immersed in this field. I assist all ages and professions to accomplish their goals. Everything from scholarship and internship applications to professional resumes, interview preparation and curriculum vitaes. From high school students and entry level to seasoned professionals. COMMUNICATIONS: I see too many students that lack the basic skills to communicate verbally and in writing. This is where technology and mobile chat has hurt students' development and hindered social skills. I help with "new" soft skills which are the "old social skills" that employers want badly. I am excellent in proofing and editing the English language. ORGANIZATION AND STUDY SKILLS: Most students have difficulty just getting out of the starting blocks. Knowing how to assess a task then applying organization and great study habits is the real key to tutoring. You can't leave out subject matter expertise, but organization and habit acquisition is how you teach students to fish for their meals for life.
