Experience
I am a former elementary school teacher. I taught third grade for eight years (Las Palmas Elementary, Edgewood ISD 2006-2012 and Larkspur Elementary, NorthEast ISD 2012-2014), but I have worked for after-school and summer programs that granted me the opportunity to teach students in Kinder through 5th grade. I am very familiar with state curriculum standards, including the most current ones, as I was trained for these standards during the last school year, 2013-2014. I decided to leave the classroom because I felt that I was not able to teach in an environment that catered to all students and their learning. The demands and restrictive policies of the public school system were just not compelling enough to make me want to return to the classroom. I found it difficult to do because I have a passion for fomenting education. I love when students discover new ideas through education. I believe they need the least restrictive environment and the most inclusive, whole-language experience any child deserves to reach their full potential.

Hobbies
Most of my free time is spent learning. I read a lot of books and articles that pertain to the latest discoveries in science. I, also, love to learn about mathematics and how it impacts our lives, and I enjoy learning human history and anthropology. Second to that would be my passion for watching any and all documentaries that touch on the aforementioned disciplines of study. Writing opinion pieces on research that I read is, also, one of my favorite hobbies. When I am not doing these things, I love to listen to music and discover new sounds, and I enjoy learning about modern dance styles. Above all these, I spend lots of time with my closest friends and family.
